It's only been a week since my plane landed in the city of London and I feel like I've been here for more than a month. I've gotten lost at least 6 times trying to get from my friend's apartment back to my dorm and around the city. The good thing about it is that the area where I live is very safe and people on the street are always willing to help out if you become disoriented. Overall it's been great!
Classes start next week for the Maryland Program and on February 8th for London Met. I've been trying to figure out how to work the transportation system since I have to take the metro - "the tube" - to get to the campuses. It is really not that hard but the city of London is five times bigger than Manhattan and the tube system rather complex compared to the metro system back in DC.
As for the social life, it has been great! I've met some really nice people from different places around the world and my roommate is from Tibet (cool huh?) and she is in her senior year at the London Metropolitan University. Her name is Tanzinia and she is really nice.
Here are some pictures of my first adventures.
For my Harry Potter Fans!
We also visited the British Museum and it was amazing! Here are pics of what I saw!
Oh and today was the coolest day ever... four of us went to a free walking tour of the city of London in the early morning. Then we went to St. Paul's Cathedral which was amazing! And then we were featured in a commercial at one of the alleys right in front of London's "Wobbly" bridge. It was really random but really cool. The production crew took a picture of us and made us signed a waver on complying to be part of the commercial. I'm going to be on British tv!
Then we decided to go to Camden Market.. which is one of the most famous, most crowded flee markets in London, and right after we got off the tube two students doing a documentary approached us and interviewed us about this huge billboard sign located right in the middle of the street which advertised infidelity. It was somewhat controversial and they asked us questions about the concept. It was quite interesting and they got it all on tape! After that we decided to have fish and chips with beer at a pub! What a day!
